Schedules
The
Zoo School runs on an A day B day block schedule. The classes you take
on Monday will be the same classes you take on Thursday. Likewise, the
classes you take on Tuesday will be the same classes you take on
Friday. Wednesdays are reserved as "focus days," where speakers, field
trips, or research is planned. There is about a forty minute lunch
break, in which you can leave campus, or go to the Zoo Cafe if you
wish.

How does block scheduling work with the 8-period schedule at my home high school? 1st,
2nd, and 3rd periods can be taken at your home high school without
interferance with Zoo School, since those classes end before 10:00
(which is when Zoo School begins classes.) Usually, music and language
classes are offered in those periods, but if not, you can usually work
it out to only miss a limited amount of time at the Zoo to attend
classes at your regular home high school.
How do I commute from my home high school to the Zoo? Chances
are that someone who owns a car is leaving for the zoo from your school
at the same time. Ask around at the beginning of school. It always
works out, and is not something to worry about. Biking is also a great
way to commute, especially if you go to Lincoln High. There are bike
racks down by the portables.
With block scheduling, I can only take six classes. How do I get all my credits in? Classes
like computer applicaitons, photography, physical education, and
applied arts are often taught during focus days or after school. The
teachers are extremely flexible and always work with the kids to find
out what works best for them.
